Funding Secured to Repair Historic Sagg Bridge in Sagaponack

A total of $500,000 of the $900,000 has been secured, officials said Monday.

SAGAPONACK, NY - Local elected officials are teaming up to repair the historic Sagg Bridge in the Village of Sagaponack.

New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. and New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle joined Sagaponack Village officials Monday to announce that they have secured a total of $500,000 through the state and municipal facilities program to facilitate repairs.

The Sagg Bridge Restoration project will include improvements to the drainage structure along the approaching road abutments, repairs to the causeway and seawall, structural repairs to the bridge structure, and improvements to the bridge deck including concrete/spall deck repairs, new curbing, sidewalks, bridge railing and asphalt pavement, a release said.

The entire Sagg Bridge Restoration project is estimated to cost nearly $900,000, with the Village of Sagaponack contributing the remaining funding through its capital highway reserve fund, officials said.
