LI Driver Charged With DWI Found 'Passed Out' With Motor Running: PD

His vehicle, spotted by a passing motorist in Southampton, had also sustained heavy front end damage, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested on Monday and charged with driving while intoxicated after he was found passed out in his vehicle with the motor running in Southampton, police said.

According to Southampton Village Police, the incident took place at 12:37 a.m. when a motorist called authorities to report the possibly intoxicated man in his vehicle on the south side of Hill Street.

Police said the 32-year-old man, who was in a 2006 Honda with heavy front end damage, was "passed behind the wheel of the vehicle with the engine running."

He was arrested, charged with misdemeanor DWI, taken into custody and held for morning arraignment, police said.
