Local Woman Cuffed After Driving Drunk, Crashing Car: Police

A woman was charged with driving drunk after she crashed into another car early on New Year's Day, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Paula A. Ferreira, 43, was arrested at 1:39 a.m. on January 1 on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays after the crash, during which she collided with another vehicle. No injuries were reported, police said.

Police responded and upon investigation learned that Ferreira was intoxicated; she was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and failure to yield right of way, a violation, police said.

Ferreira was held for arraignment, police said.
