Moving Dove Release Ceremony Honors Lost Loved Ones In Southampton
Families remembered those they've lost by releasing a dove in their memory.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Tears of joy were mixed with sweet memories Saturday as a crowd gathered at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton for a memorial service for loved ones who have passed away.
The service featured a beautiful and uplifting dove release, with families and loved ones sending doves soaring skyward in memory of those now gone.
"We are often left with feelings of emptiness and uncertainty with the loss of a loved one. A dove is a vivid symbol of hope and healing, and the release of a dove acts as closure — symbolizing letting go of strong emotions," said John Abbate, owner and manager of Brockett Funeral Home, along with Dominick Abbate, funeral director.
