Parrish Art Museum to Host Documentary Screening
The museum will be screening Peter Greenaway's 'Four American Composers: John Cage' on Friday.

The Parrish Art Museum, located on 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill, will be hosting a screening of Peter Greenaway’s Four American Composers: John Cage on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.
This excerpt from Peter Greenaway’s documentary project Four American Composers (1983) profiles avant-garde legend John Cage.

Made for TV and based on a series of musical performances commemorating Cage’s 70th birthday, Greenaway’s film provides an intimate portrait of the composer through footage of his performances intercut with interviews with Cage himself.
The film provides insight into Cage’s training as a painter, and how his interest in linguistics and philosophy influenced his work.

Composer Carter Burwell will be introducing the film, with remarks after from Laura Kuhn, Executive Director of The John Cage Trust.
Tickets are $10 (free for members, children, and students) and can be purchased here. Seating is limited.
