Peconic Land Trust Kicks Off Conversations With Local Farmers

Local farmers, as well as food and beverage producers, will give a series of talks.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Peconic Land Trust is set to kick off its annual series of conversations with local farmers, as well as food and beverage producers.

The event, "Long Island Grown IV: Food and Beverage Artisans at Work," which begins on March 5, is hosted by Bridge Gardens and focuses on "growers, producers and chefs making some of the most innovative and dynamic food and beverages on Long Island," according to a release.

The program has expanded in recent years to feature a wide array of value added products.

"The 2017 series focuses on some of the innovative and entrepreneurial products coming from our community, and demonstrates how our locally grown products are evolving to meet the changing consumer tastes," the release said.

The panel style presentation will be moderated by Laura Donnelly.

All presentations begin at 2 p.m. and are held at Bridge Gardens, located at 36 Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton.

Refreshments follow each presentation. Admission costs $30 per person or $25 for current members of Bridge Gardens. Tickets for the series may be purchased at $100 per person, or $80 for current members of Bridge Gardens.

Registration for the 2017 program will open on Monday, February 13, 2017. Pre-registration and pre-payment for the lectures is required. To register, contact the Peconic Land Trust at 631-283-3195 or email events@PeconicLandTrust.org.

Sunday, March 5: featuring Matt Schmitt of Schmitt Farms, Ron Goerler of Jamesport Vineyards, and Chef Jason Weiner of Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton.

Sunday, March 19: with Al Krupski of Krupski Farms, Ray Wellen of Green Thumb Organic Farm, Barbara Shinn of Shinn Estate Vineyards, and Chef Dee Muma of Dark Horse Restaurant in Riverhead.

Sunday, April 2: with Hank Kraszewski of Kraszewski Farms, Juan Micieli-Martinez of Martha Clara Vineyards, and Chef Colin Ambrose of Estia’s Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor.

Sunday, April 23: featuring Paul McCormick of Great Gun Shellfish, Anthony Nappa of Raphael Winery, and Chef Taylor Knapp of PawPaw Restaurant in Greenport.
