Photos: 70th Annual Shinnecock Powwow Unfolds, Traditions Celebrated
The event continues through Monday on the grounds of the Shinnecock Nation in Southampton.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The 70th Annual Shinnecock Powwow is a celebration of tradition and culture, and continues its four day run Sunday and Monday at the Shinnecock Nation, located at Church Street in Southampton.
On Saturday, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman spoke at the Powwow, the first time a town supervisor has ever spoken in the event's history, he said.
The event features food, music, traditional dance, drumming, and the Grand Entry, which features a procession, on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Monday at 12:30 p.m.

A sea of vendors offer traditional wares and crafts for sale.
Admission cost $15 for adults; $10 for seniors and children. Kids five and below are free.
