Public Invited By Southampton Officials to Weigh In on Development of Hampton Bays Business District
Community members are invited to sit around tables with design professionals and map the future.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The public is invited to weigh in on the future design of the downtown Hampton Bays business district.
A meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hampton Bays Community Center on Ponquogue Avenue.
Southampton's planning department is slated to bring Historic Concepts, an architectural design consultant, to the initial meeting to begin a “charrette” process that will facilitate the creation of a pattern book for the downtown overlay district.

That district encompasses the area from Springville Road to Ponquogue Avenue and includes Good Ground Road, Main Street and the parcels adjacent to the new Good Ground Park, a release from Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman's office said.
The process involves groups of community members sitting around tables with planning and design professionals to discuss alternatives and preferences for future downtown revitalization.

The goal of the process is to embrace changes to the town code to assure that design standards and forms are aligned with community expectations, Schneiderman said.
“We want to make sure that the public is involved in any future design or re-design of the downtown district," Schneiderman said. “This is a great opportunity for the community to help create what the business district could look like.”
