Southampton Man Drove Drunk With Child In Car: Police

NORTH SEA, NY — A Southampton man drove drunk with a child in the car, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, Timothy M. Mahoney, 58, was arrested on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on Noyac Road in North Sea by the police department's community response unit.
Mahoney was observed on Noyac Road driving a motor vehicle without wearing his seat belt, police said.

During the subsequent traffic stop, Mahoney was found to intoxicated, with a child in the vehicle, police said.
He was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing; he was charged with Leandra's Law aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, open alcohol in vehicle, a violation, and a seat belt violation, police said.

Mahoney was held for morning arraignment, police said.
