"Due to the current weather forecast models our township has the potential for up to 12 inches of snow," police said in a release. "Blowing snow will decrease visibility and cause drifts making roadways very difficult to navigate. Roadway surfaces are very slippery. Expect the eastern portion of the township to be hit the hardest. The Southampton Town Police are requesting everyone to stay off the roadway with no unnecessary travel. Police have encountered numerous motor vehicle accidents since 10 a.m.," the release said.
