Three Nabbed in Pre-Christmas Eve DWI Crackdown: Police

BREAKING: A total of 27 summonses were issued, police said.

Three drunk drivers were busted in a pre-Christmas Eve drunk driving task force initiative, police said.

Southampton Town Police hosted one segment of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's East End DWI Task Force from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Ten members of the Task Force from the Southampton Town Police Department, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Quogue Police Department, East Hampton Town Police Department and the East Hampton Village Police Department participated in the effort, police said.

Saturation patrols were utilized throughout Southampton Town, police said.

A total of 72 vehicles were stopped and operators screened for impairment, police said.

Three drivers were arrested and a total of 27 summonses were issued, police said.

Those arrested, police said, included:

Henry G Garcia-Garcia, 28, of Quiogue, was charged with driving while intoxicated; he was observed driving on the shoulder and off the roadway onto the grass on Montauk Highway near Fairview Avenue in Quiogue and was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Michael Ian Heskiaoff, 26, of Southampton, was charged with driving while intoxicated; he was observed speeding and crossing left of the center of lines while heading east on County Road 39 in Southampton and was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Frederic Stephens, 24, of East Hampton, was charged with felony DWI; he had two prior convictions, police said. He was also charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation and misdemeanor circumventing an interlock device, police said.

Stephens was observed speeding and driving on the shoulder of the road while heading southbound on County Road 104 in Riverside and was found to be intoxicated, have a revoked driver's license and was driving a vehicle without an interlock device as required by court order, police said.

No motor vehicle collisions with injuries were reported to the Southampton Town Police townwide during the hours of the task force, police said.

Southampton Town Police thanked "all of the designated drivers and those who did drink and chose
not to drive, for helping make this holiday season safer upon Southampton Town roadways," a release said.
