Undercover Sting Nets Two Selling Alcohol To Minors: Police

BREAKING: Clerks in Southampton and East Quogue were nabbed, police said.

An undercover sting netted two clerks who were caught selling alcohol to minors, police said.

According to authorities, on Thursday, the New York State Police Barracks in Riverside conducted an underage drinker enforcement operation in Southampton, East Quogue and Hampton Bays.

During the operation, two establishments were cited for selling alcoholic beverages to an undercover state police operative, police said.

Arrested and charged with first degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage were Alim Atalay, 47, of Riverhead, clerk at Empire Mini Mart on Montauk Highway in East Quogue and Daniel Walsh, 61, of Southampton, clerk at Lamplighter Wine & Liquors on Jagger Lane in Southampton, police said.

Atalay was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Southampton Town Justice Court and Walsh was issued an appearance ticket to the Village of Southampton Justice Court; both will appear at a later date, police said.
