Undercover Underage Drinking Sting in Southampton Nets Arrests Friday Night: Police

The sting took place on Friday, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY: A number of individuals were busted after an undercover sting in Southampton Friday night, police said.

The Southampton Town Police Community Response Unit, in conjunction with the New York State Liquor Authority, conducted an undercover, underage sting operation, on Friday, police said.

Underage police agents were utilized to attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages from multiple businesses in town including delis, gas stations and bars.

The sting operation encompassed 18 businesses and the agents were able to purchase alcohol at six of them, police said.

Several locations were targeted due to community complaints of underage sales to minors and
illegal activity, police said.

The following arrests were made, police said:

Maria Pereiraramos, 33, of Flanders, was arrested at the Garden Deli, located at 790 Flanders Road in Flanders after she sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. She was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Turgut Uyaniker, 49, of Centereach was arrested at the Shell Gas Station, located at 9 Lake Avenue, in Riverside after he sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. He was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Perfecto Yanez, 33, of Riverhead, was arrested at Marta’s Deli, located at 300 Riverleigh Avenue, in Riverside after he sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. He was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Melissa Immerman, 28, of Southampton, was arrested at the Speedway Gas Station, located at 816 County Road 39 in Southampton after she sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. She was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Joseph Clark, 23, of Flanders, was arrested at the Cumberland Farms Gas Station, located at 13 County Road 39 in Southampton after he sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. He was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Joseph Traina, 67, of Manhassett, was issued a summons at Back Page, located at 63 Main Street in Sag Harbor, after it was determined that he, the owner, had in his employ, unlicensed security guards, police said. He was charged with employment of unlicensed security guards, a violation of the general business law, police said.

Wala Cavario, 29, of Shirley, was issued a summons at Back Page, located at 63 Main Street in Sag Harbor after an investigation revealed that he was employed as a security guard at the establishment but failed to possess the required New York State security guard license, police said. He was charged with unlicensed security guard, a violation of the general business law, police said.

Joseph Johnson, 26, of Mastic Beach, was issued a summons at Back Page, located at 63 Main Street in Sag Harbor after an investigation revealed that he was employed as a security guard at the establishment but failed to possess the required New York State security guard license, police said. He was charged with unlicensed security guard, a violation of the general business law, police said.

Andrew Luzenko, 23, of Del Rey Beach, FL was arrested at the North Sea Tavern, located at 1271 North Sea Road in North Sea after he sold alcohol to the underage agents, police said. He was charged with prohibited sale to a minor and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both misdemeanors, police said.

Jeffrey Delvalle, 46, of Bohemia, was issued a summons at the North Sea Tavern, located at 1271 North
Sea Road in North Sea after investigation revealed that he was employed as a security guard at the establishment, but failed to possess the required New York State security guard license, police said. He was charged with unlicensed security guard, a violation of the general business law, police said.

Christina Boykin, 28, of North Sea, was arrested at the North Sea Tavern, located at 1271 North Sea Road in North Sea after she was observed by police standing on the front deck smoking marijuana, police said. She was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, police said.

Jason Halsey, 26, of Durham, NC, was arrested at the North Sea Tavern, located at 1271 North Sea Road in North Sea after he was observed by police standing on the front deck smoking marijuana, police said. He was charged with fifth degree criminal possession, a misdemeanor, police said.

George Williams, 29, of Santa Barbara, CA was arrested at the North Sea Tavern, located at 1271 North Sea Road in North Sea after he was observed standing on the front deck smoking marijuana, police said. Upon his arrest he was also found tobe in possession of a quantity of cocaine, police said. He was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, police said.

All individuals arrested were processed at police headquarters and released on their own recognizance, with orders to return to court at a later date, police said.

The SLA provided required warning signs to establishments which lacked them and offered information on how to maintain compliance. The goal of the Southampton Town Police and the SLA is to ensure voluntary compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors. Both agencies are dedicated to the protection of youth by educating employees and businesses who sell alcohol and arresting and prosecuting offenders. Additional sting operations wil be conducted in the future to ensure compliance.
