Worker Injured While Dismantling Hampton Classic Site: Police

He was taking down tents when a metal pole fell on him, police say.

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A worker was injured at the Hampton Classic site in Bridgehampton Saturday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, at 8:07 a.m., a call came in about a worker, who had been taking down one of the tents when a metal post fell on him.

Francisco Javier Chicas, of Maryland, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police aviation for treatment, police said.
