Young Artists Display Masterpieces At Parrish Art Museum
The annual Student Exhibition is a favorite event for many and runs through Feb. 26.
SAG HARBOR, NY — Local young artists have been given the chance to shine at the Parrish Art Museum, where their work is on display as part of an annual Student Exhibition.
Fourth graders at Sag Harbor Elementary School, after touring the museum in November and seeing the museum’s permanent collection and fall exhibit, were inspired to create their own works of art, which are being featured as part of the museum’s annual exhibit, a release said.
The exhibit runs through Feb. 26.

Students in fourth grade classes brainstormed and collaborated to create art projects based on what they'd seen during their visit to the art museum.
Projects created included, “Inspiration and Creation,” which features plaster figures dancing, singing and playing instruments on a background influenced by a piece of abstract art the students viewed; and a large mixed media cake made out of plaster. The piece was inspired by an exhibit at the museum that included cakes with unique toppings, such as birds and feathers, a release said.
