Cops: Drunk Driver Dragged From Gas-Leaking Car Full Of Beer Cans
Both drivers were injured in the 2-car crash on Halloween.
SOUTHEAST, NY — Two people were injured in a two-car crash in Southeast at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 31, Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports. A Carmel resident has been charged in connection with the crash, which took place on Route 6 near Bridge Lane.
Dispatched by Putnam 911, Deputy Christopher Tompkins said when he arrived at the crash scene he found Julian Chulo, the driver of one of the vehicles, sitting on the shoulder of the road. Empty beer cans appeared to have been ejected from his car. Several people informed Tompkins that they pulled Chulo out because they saw what appeared to be gas leaking from the car and removed him for fear that it would catch fire.
Chulo, 50, was taken to a local hospital by Brewster EMS where it was discovered he had fractured his pelvis in the crash. The operator of the other vehicle sustained only minor injury.
