Mahopac Man Found Guilty In Child Sex Abuse Case

Putnam County District Attorney Robert V. Tendy announced the verdict.

CARMEL, NY — A Mahopac man who sexually abused a child was convicted by a jury Wednesday of two counts of first-degree rape and a count of sexual conduct against a child, Putnam County District Attorney Robert V. Tendy announced.

Khori Salmon began sexually abusing a 9-year-old when he lived in the Bronx. Salmon moved to Putnam County in 2017, and his abuse continued, cumulating in the rape of the then 12-year-old victim on two occasions in his residence in January 2018.

Tendy thanked multiple law enforcement agencies and personnel.

"Detectives Frank Chibbaro, Michael Sheil, and Detective Sgt. Michael Nagle of the Carmel Police Department investigated and arrested Salmon on the charges, and Putnam DA Senior Investigator Michael Benvie, the NYPD, and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office collaborated throughout this case. Putnam ADAs Melissa Lynch and Nicholas LaStella brought the case to trial and they did an outstanding job. I’m very proud of everyone’s hard work during this difficult prosecution. And I want to especially thank the jury for reaching a just verdict.

"I also have to commend the incredible courage and resolve of the young victim throughout this terrible ordeal. We will always vigorously investigate and prosecute anyone who harms our children."
