Putnam Man Extradited To CT Over Hit-And-Run

The Patterson resident was driving a car with a suspended registration when he was stopped by a sheriff's deputy.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Patterson resident who was stopped by Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Osika for alleged traffic infractions near Route 292 and Harmony Road turned out to be wanted in Connecticut. Police there were investigating a hit-and-run accident involving serious injury or death.

The traffic stop at 4:36 p.m. Feb. 8 also revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended for an insurance lapse.

Osika took Marcellus Ferrell, 32, into custody and transported him to the Town of Carmel Justice Court where Ferrell was issued an appearance ticket for the VTL charges which were to be filed in the Town of Patterson Justice Court. Then Carmel Town Justice Daniel Miller arraigned Ferrell as a Fugitive from Justice on the Connecticut warrant and sent him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility.
