Putnam Pandemic Update: 16 COVID-19 Deaths At Nursing Homes

In all, 46 Putnam residents have died out of a total 1,196 people confirmed positive for the new coronavirus as of May 4.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Fatalities at nursing homes due to the new coronavirus outbreak continue to rise, New York state officials said. New data from the state includes both confirmed and presumed deaths due to COVID-19.

According to the latest data, since the outbreak began two months ago Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has had 13 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. Putnam Ridge has had three.

In all, 46 Putnam County residents have died. The county lists a total 1,196 people confirmed positive for the new coronavirus. There were 67 active cases, and just 13 people were hospitalized as of May 4.
