BREWSTER, NY — The manager of a pharmacy in Brewster is accused of ordering medical supplies, ostensibly for his store, and then re-selling them to wholesalers. Specifically, he orders more than $50,000 worth of diabetes test strips.
Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports Investigator Anthony Nappi, from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations, arrested Aatif Ahmed Khan Feb. 28.
Khan, a Newburgh resident, is charged with Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony. It is alleged that Khan, who, since 2015, had been the manager of the JNR Pharmacy in Brewster, ordered diabetes test strips from medical supply distributors on behalf of the pharmacy and then resold them to various wholesalers and kept the money for himself.

The apparent theft came to light recently, after the owner and the bookkeeper conducted an
inventory of the store; however, it appears that it had been an ongoing occurrence since 2017, police said. It is alleged that over that two-year period Khan stole and resold over $50,000 worth of diabetes test strips.
Khan, 32, was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court by the Honorable Gregory Folchetti and sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1500 cash bail or $3000 bond.
