Town-by-Town Snow Totals For HV's Surprising Sunday Storm

HUDSON VALLEY, NY— The Sunday snowfall was the kind of weather system that drives forecasters crazy.

There was early hype about a storm system, then the forecasts were downplayed and most of the region was told to expect a coating to maybe an inch of snow, possibly a bit more at the south end of the valley. When the storm was imminent, snowfall estimates were raised, but still not enough.

"Over-achiever alert," the folks at Hudson Valley Weather warned Sunday morning with a Facebook post showing the prediction models. "As you can see the data didn’t support (our) original forecast of 1-3" it most certainly doesn’t show the 4"+ observations we are seeing."

"Any lingering snow or ice accumulation on grassy surfaces will likely be melted and mostly washed away by late Thursday," said Alyssa Smithmyer, AccuWeather Meteorologist.
