11th Annual 'Alley Oop For Autism' Event To Take Place Saturday

The event will take place on Saturday.

About 1,000 people from the Syosset/Jericho community are expected to come together for an event to support Autism being held this weekend.

The 11th annual "Alley Oop For Autism" event, created by Jericho High School junior year basketball player Justin Resnick, will be held on Saturday, March 26 between nonn and 6:30 p.m. at the Jericho Senior High School on 99 Cedar Swamp Road in Jericho.

Resnick started the event as a way to combine basketball with raising money for autism after he was inspired by his mother, who has had a career in special education and early intervention.

The event is on track to raise about $90,000 for The Family Center For Autism in Garden City.

In total, almost $1 million has been raised from this annual event.

The cost of tickets is $5 for spectators, and three-person teams pay $40 per player to compete in three different ten minute games.

The teams range from small children to adults.

Sports celebs like Boomer Esiason have participated in past events.

New York Giants football star Jay Bromley is expected to attend the event on Saturday.
