
Gertrude Burstein celebrated her 100th Birthday at The Bristal at Jericho with family and friends. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she was a very conscientious student and graduated high school at sixteen.
Gertrude and her husband Abraham were married in 1942. She worked as a bookkeeper until the birth of her first child. The couple started their family while still living in Brooklyn, and then moved to Long Island in 1955. Gertrude and Abraham were married for over 61 years.
They traveled around the world. Her favorite country she traveled to was Italy. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Florida where she lived there for 35 years. While living in Florida, she became an avid tennis player. She stopped playing tennis at ninety. Her other hobbies include playing cards, mahjong and canasta. She moved to The Bristal in 2019, so she could be closer to her family.

“I am very blessed in the sense that I have two wonderful kids who gave me four beautiful grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. My family is truly something that I am so very proud of. I think it is so remarkable how everyone takes care of each other”.
