Syosset School Budget Passes, Board Members Elected

Voters have decided on a proposed 2015-16 budget.

Syosset residents approved the school district’s $215.6 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 2,112-813, according to the school district.

The budget includes a 1.34 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 0.91 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Joshua A. Lafazan and Andy Feldman were elected to the Board of Education. There was a tie for the third seat which will remain undeclared pending the outcome of affidavit ballots, the school district reports.
