Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter Offers Residents Free Adoptions For September

There's still time to adopt a new furry friend for free!

September may be ending soon, but there's still time to adopt a new friend for free in the Town of Oyster Bay.

The town reminds residents that as part of their annual "Free Adoption Month” residents can adopt an animal from the local shelter, located on 150 Miller Place in Syosset.

The usual adoption fee of $80 for dogs and $84 for cats will be waived and residents will just have to pay the standard $10 spay/neuter license fee or $5 for seniors.

Adopted dogs will receive both a rabies and a 5-in-1 shot, while cats will receive a rabies and a 3-in-1 shot at no charge. Both dogs and cats will receive free microchipping.

“The Town’s Animal Shelter is a haven for healthy and happy animals looking for someone to take them to a loving home,” Councilman Chris J. Coschignano said. “I encourage anyone looking for a new pet to visit our high-tech shelter and select amongst the wide variety of dogs and cats we have available. Our shelter staff will be happy to assist you in finding a new friend and pet appropriate for your family’s lifestyle.”
