Why is there an Obsession with Our Weight?
You're not the only one obsessed with your weight- I promise!

For years, I have heard people ask the same kinds of things regarding their own individual weight. Some people want to know if there is a specific point that they should hit and the truth is- it all depends. This is why a topic like this creates a lot of criticism and even anxiety within others.
For people who have been exercising for years, they probably have a routine that works for them and they will probably tell you that the number behind their weight isn’t something that worries them so much. With many individuals, weight is a sporadic factor that depends on a variety of elements. Those who are extremely concerned about their weight are more worried about the actual number than anything else.
You do your research and you even go to a trainer. They keep you up to date with healthy routines and they help you figure out a healthy diet. They even tell you not to worry so much about weight, just focus on training and you will be okay. However, in your mind all you can think about is losing 10 pounds in the fastest way possible.

Keep in mind, this is not good. You may have a particular goal and that is absolutely fine, but you have to have a healthy mindset about it. We already know that you want to get lean- that’s a given. But don’t focus so much on your weight because it is not a measure of success. As much as I don’t want to say it, it’s probably better to measure your body weight based on BMI or Body Mass Index. It provides a way to measure fat solely based on height and weight. Nothing else is taken into consideration which is why I wouldn’t use it as my first measurement option. Other factors to take into consideration include heart rate when it’s resting as well as measurements of circumference.
If you would like, develop a routine of exercises that you can do by yourself, with a friend or with your trainer. Whether you’re doing kick boxing, weight training, Pilates or yoga, planning is always key.

The Bottom Line
I know it’s easier said than done, but focusing so much on the number on the scale will not bring you anything but anxiety. Start by eating healthy. Opt for wholesome foods such as fruits, veggies and whole grains. Go through your refrigerator and throw away all of those gross processed foods. Instead fill it up with watermelon, spinach, kale, melon, natural juices etc. Also, if you can’t get rid of carbs in your diet, opt for whole grain bread all the time! Look at the ingredients and make sure that whole grains are the only ingredients. If there are others listed, don’t even bother to read them. Put it down and move on.
With some positivity and willpower, you will be feeling confident in no time. I have faith in you!
