Woodbury Race Planned To Fight Prostate Cancer
The 2019 Blue Ribbon Run/Walk for Prostate Cancer is planned in Woodbury. Here are the details.
WESTBURY, NY — Westbury will host a 3-mile race to raise money for the fight against prostate cancer.
The 2019 Blue Ribbon Run/Walk for Prostate Cancer will be held Nov. 10 at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park. The race will begin at 9 a.m., the Town of Oyster Bay said in a news release.
Runners who want to participate in the event can pre-register for $25. Those who register on the day of the event can do so for $30. Awards will be handed out for the top male and female finishers in the open and masters categories. Medals will be awarded in each age category for top three finishers.

Indiviudals who register will become eligible for a giveaway. Those who prepaid can pick up their bib numbers Nov. 9 at Runner’s Edge on Main Street in Farmingdale.
As part of the event, free prostate cancer screenings will be available on site for men ages 40 and older who haven't previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Joseph Saladino, supervisor of the Town of Oyster Bay, said in a news release the event benefits a "worthy cause."
"Building awareness regarding the risks men face from prostate cancer is an important cause, and I am proud to partner with Integrated Medical Foundation to promote their education, outreach programs, services, and screening initiatives," he said.
