Sarah Lawrence College to Conduct Advanced Novel Writing Workshop in Fall
Course is intended to help students produce a manuscript more likely to appeal to a literary agent or book publisher.

On the verge of finishing a manuscript?
The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville will offer a course in the fall designed to help novelists navigate the final preparation stages and avoid the shoals before they submit a manuscript to the marketplace.
To be accepted for enrollment, students need to have finished a first draft or be close to completing it.

Approval of a writing sample (up to 20 pages) is a requirement for enrollment; eligibility is contingent upon instructor evaluation and approval of the sample.
During the course, students will read and discuss their own work and the work of their classmates.

Elements of novel writing to be covered include character development, dialogue, structure, plot, and other issues essential to a successful novel.
The course will be conducted from September 9 through December 3, 2015 on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. No class will be held on Thursday, November 26.
About the instructors
Patricia Dunn: Her book ”Rebels by Accident” was published by Sourcebooks Fire in December, 2014. She earned an MFA in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Her writing has appeared in Global City Review, Salon.com, Women’s eNews, The Christian Science Monitor, The Village Voice, The Nation, and L.A. Weekly. Her work has been anthologized in Stories of Illness and Healing: Women Write Their Bodies; Progressive Muslim Identities: Personal Stories from the U.S. and Canada; and, most recently, in the bestselling anthology, Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women.
