The paving work on the major highway in Greenburgh is slated to start this week, so maybe start thinking about an alternate route now.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — There is some spooky traffic news to report just in time for the annual influx of Halloween visitors and leaf peepers.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) said that State Route 9A, between Sprain Brook Parkway Drive and Hunter Lane in the Town of Greenburgh, will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers starting this week, for road paving.

The work will take place weekly starting on Monday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 21, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting.

The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in a driver's license suspension.
