5th Graders Learn About 3D Printing at Emma Clark Library

Three Village 5th graders visited the library in January & February, and it was a great enrichment to their STEM education.

Thanks to a partnership between Emma Clark Library, Three Village STEM teacher Gina Varacchi, and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System (SCLS), 19 classes of 470 fifth graders from all of the elementary schools took field trips to Emma Clark Library to learn about 3D Printing and see one in action. Aurora Maravalli from SCLS taught the kids about how the 3D Printer works and its many uses. She also told them about Thingiverse, a website that has designs available to download for 3D Printers, as well as Tinkercad, a 3D CAD design tool used to turn ideas into 3D models. The classes visited throughout the month of January and February, and it was a great enrichment to their STEM education.
