Music and Meditation @The Three Jewels

Music and Meditation presented by The Open Music Ensemble @The Three Jewels, www.threejewels.org, on Saturday, October 18, 2014, 7:30-9:30PM

Nicole DeVault, harp; Philip Foster, spoken word; Kaveh Hghtalab, kamancheh, and Nic Handahl, Western flute;

Donation: $15. Paid reservation recommended.

Basic meditation instruction is offered, you are invited to place attention on the gentle acoustic sounds and intervening silences created by the Ensemble as a tool to help your meditation. Sometimes special ‘Instructions for Listening Meditation” or appropriate poetry may be read. Finally, after a period of silence, participants are invited to share and discuss their experiences.

The Open Music Ensemble has presented Music and Meditation since 2008 at the Shambhala Center, the Interdependence Project, the Jewish Community Center, the Tibet House, St. Paul’s Chapel at Columbia University, and New York Insight Meditation Center, all in New York City. Roshi Joan Halifax, Abbot of Upaya Zen Center, describes it as “a wonderful program”. For information see
