New Upper East Side Citi Bike Stations to be Discussed by Community Board
The Department of Transportation is considering adding nine new Citi Bike stations to the Upper East Side.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — On Wednesday the Transportation Committee of Community Board 8 will discuss city plans to add nine new Citi Bike stations to the Upper East Side.
Here are the proposed new Citi Bike locations according to the committee's meeting agenda:
- East 65th Street midblock between Second & Third Avenues
- East 66th Street west of Madison Avenue
- East 68th Street east of Madison Avenue
- Third Avenue north of 72nd Street
- 74th Street east of First Avenue
- 78th Street west of Second Avenue
- Madison Avenue between 81st & 82nd Streets
- East 83rd Street west of East End Avenue
- 92nd Street between Lexington & Third Avenues

The committee will also discuss reducing the size of some of the existing Citi Bike stations in the Upper East Side.

Those stations are located at:
- First Avenue and 62nd Street
- 67th Street and Park Avenue
- Third Avenue and 71st Street
- 81st Street and York Avenue
- East End Avenue and 86th Street
- 85th Street and York Avenue
- 84th Street and Park Avenue
In June, the Department of Transportation announced plans to install crosstown bike lanes on 70th, 71st, 77th and 78th streets. The community board meetings surrounding those bike lanes were hotly contested, so the same may become true for the city's plan to increase the number of Citi Bikes in the neighborhood.

The meeting will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 6:30 p.m.
