UWS City Council Election Results: Rosenthal, Levine Win
The Upper West Side voted to reelect two Democratic incumbents to the City Council.

Update: Democrats won big on the Upper West Side Tuesday night. Both Democratic incumbents representing portions of the left-leaning neighborhood have won reelection, the New York Times reported.
Helen Rosenthal and Mark Levine won reelection to the City Council's sixth and seventh districts Tuesday. Rosenthal defeated Republican challenger Hyman Drusin handily, the New York Times reported. The incumbent collected about 86 percent of the vote Tuesday compared to the Republican's 10 percent.
Levine successfully defended his seat in the seventh City Council district, defeating Green Party candidate Florindo Troncelliti, the New York Times reported. The seventh City Council district, which spans West Harlem and parts of the Upper West Side and Washington Heights. Levine won nearly 95 percent of the vote Tuesday, according to the city board of elections.

Mayor Bill de Blasio easily defeated his little-known challengers to earn a second term Tuesday night, capping a sleepy campaign season with an easy win. NY1 declared victory for the Democratic incumbent at 9:26 p.m., less than a half hour after the polls closed.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY ā New Yorkers will take to the polls on Tuesday in the general election for citywide positions including mayor, comptroller and public advocate. City council elections will also take place in many neighborhoods.
An election for the sixth City Council district is of local importance to the Upper West Side. Incumbent Helen Rosenthal won the Democratic nomination during September's primary elections, which should lock up a victory in the left-leaning neighborhood. Rosenthal is running against primary foe William H Raudenbush, who is running on the Stand Up Together party line, and Republican Hyman Drusin, according to the New York City Campaign Finance board.
For mayor, Democrat Bill de Blasio is running against Republican Nicole Malliotakis and independents Bo Dietl and Sal Albanese.
Public Advocate Tish James is facing Republican Juan Carlos Polanco, Michael O'Reilly and James Lane. Comptroller Scott Stringer is up against Republican Michael Faulkner, Julia Willebrand and Alex Merced.
