Utica Volunteer Fire Department raffling off smart TV to raise funds (darkhorsepressnow.com) — Residents in Utica can support their volunteer fire department by buying $5 raffle tickets for a 32-inch smart TV, with sales running through December 10. Proceeds will fund firefighter training, safety gear, and community education, helping the department stay ready for emergencies in the Utica community.
   

2. Man arrested on warrant in Utica (newportdispatch.com) — Law enforcement arrested a Verona man in Utica on Sept. 14 on a bench warrant tied to a June domestic incident and an earlier Utica Police arrest, then allegedly found cocaine during the stop on North Genesee Street. He now faces a new felony drug charge and is being held in Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
   

3. Retired NYC firefighter Tim Duffy speaks during 9/11 vigil in Utica (timestelegram.com) — A 9/11 candlelight vigil in Utica brought retired FDNY firefighter Tim Duffy back to the city to share emotional reflections on service, sacrifice, and his work pairing veterans with service dogs. Local firefighters, including CNY Stair Climb founder Jeff Burkhart, joined residents in Liberty Bell Park to honor those lost and recommit to never forgetting the attacks' legacy.
   

4. Prospects Practice Ahead of Showcase Finale (nhl.com) — A Devils goaltending prospect is gearing up for his second North American season after an up-and-down debut year in Utica, where he posted a 13-14-3 record. He and Utica's coach say better team play and comfort with rink size, schedule, and language should set him up for stronger results this season.
   

5. Bruce Kinsey (wiscassetnewspaper.com) — This obituary remembers Bruce Kinsey, whose family settled in Utica and who later graduated from Utica College before building a life and business in Maine.
