Barbeque Done Right at Tennessee Jed's
Family owned restaurant brings authentic southern barbeque to Wantagh
is a family owned traditional barbeque restaurant where Pitmaster Francisco Gonzales and his family are bringing southern barbeque to Wantagh. Open for lunch and dinner, they also have a wide variety of catering options and their made to order to-go catering is great for hosts.
Décor: The aroma of BBQ is the first thing you’ll notice and it’s a nice welcome. The bar takes up a large amount of space, especially because it fades into the kitchen area. The casual décor has a southern flair, with plenty of fun signs and colorful accents. There's usually music playing, but you can count on catching a game there too. Fresh cornbread is complimentary at each table to get you into the barbeque mood.
The Drinks: The bar has several beers on tap like Bud, Bud Light, Miller, but also other favorites like Blue Moon and Guinness. They offer a wide variety of bottles from Corona to Sam Addams to Dos Equis.

Appetizers: Beer battered onions rings ($6) are a favorite to start things off, but another nice choice is fried cheese bites ($6), which comes with avocado dipping sauce. If you’re extra hungry, go for Tennessee Jed’s barbeque nacho chips ($10), with cheese, jalapenos, and a choice of chopped brisket or Texas red chili.
Entrees: Everything you expect to see at a barbeque restaurant, plus more, is offered at Tennessee Jed’s. Regulars looking for a big meal swear by the Texas Beef Ribs, ($24, full rack). The Memphis Pulled Chicken ($14) is marinated in the restaurant’ signature sauce and is another favorite. They also offer a number of seafood dishes, like their signature barbeque shrimp ($22). Each entrée comes with a choice of two sides. If you’re looking for a smaller meal, there are several sandwiches like the Texas Link ($8), a sandwich with peppers, sausage, and onions. Sandwiches and po’ boys all come with pickle, cole slaw, and homemade potato chips.

Sides: Tennessee Jed’s offers a wide variety of sides, from the healthier steamed vegetables to the mac and cheese, which might never be called healthy but are always called delicious. The sweet potato fries and creamed spinach are popular picks by regulars. While two sides come with each entrée, they are individually priced at $4 each.
Service: Because it’s not a large place, if you get there during a busy time you may have to wait. Otherwise, the service is fast, friendly, and personal. The staff knows the menu well and give you the extra attention that makes a place feel homey and comfortable.
Signature Dish: Memphis baby back ribs ($14 for half rack, $21 for full rack) that are always marinated overnight; these are cooked slowly over 4-6 hours. This dish sells out fast, even at lunch.
