Blue Ribbons Will Be Handed Out In Support Of Police

The "Back the Blue" campaign will take place on the next two Saturdays in Wantagh.

WANTAGH, NY — Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads is holding an event to show unity with the police.

The "Back the Blue" ribbon campaign will be held on consecutive Saturdays at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road station.

Rhoades invites residents to pick up a free ribbon from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 27 and Sept. 3.

"Show your support for law enforcement by decorating your homes with blue ribbons," Rhoads said in a mailer.

The legislator said support is critical at this time "as extremists try to defund Nassau police," Rhoads said.
