Honoring LI Hero Who Died In Iraq At Annual Wantagh Fundraiser
The benefit, paying tribute to Staff Sergeant James McNaughton, takes place on Feb. 4 at Mulcahy's Pub.
WANTAGH, NY — Mulcahy's Pub is bringing the public together for an annual fundraiser that pays tribute to a Long Islander who was killed while serving in Iraq.
Army Reservist Staff Sergeant James McNaughton, who was also an officer in the NYPD, was killed in 2005 by sniper fire while guarding prisoners. It was his second military deployment.
McNaughton was based out of Uniondale.

Since starting the benefit in 2006 more than 60,000 people have attended.
Along with remembering McNaughton, proceeds to go charities that include the Wounded Warriors Project and the Northport P.T.S.D. Veterans Association.

The fundraiser was postponed over the past couple of years due to the pandemic.
It is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 4 from 1 -7p.m.
