• Wantagh High School seniors named National Merit semifinalists (liherald.com) — Two Wantagh High School seniors, Matthew Como and Lauren Furer, have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, putting them in the running for prestigious scholarships this spring. Both are standout scholars and leaders in AP classes, honor societies, athletics, and clubs, reflecting the strong academic culture and opportunities available to students in the Wantagh community.
   

• Town of Hempstead honors 9/11 victims and first responders (liherald.com) — A Wantagh resident, Bruce Brandt, shared how months of recovery work at Ground Zero left him with serious health issues as the Town of Hempstead marked the 25th annual 9/11 sunrise memorial at Point Lookout. Thousands gathered, including neighbors from Merrick, Baldwin, and Garden City South, to honor victims and first responders, cast carnations into the water, and reflect on the lasting impact of the attacks.
