• Mandalay Elementary students enjoy R.I.S.E. Up Kick-Off and Tech-Free Tuesday (liherald.com) — Mandalay Elementary in Wantagh is launching a R.I.S.E. Up theme that encourages students to respect, include, support and empower one another, with shout-outs and lobby recognition for kids who model each pillar. A big piece is Tech-Free Tuesdays, supported by Wantagh High School students who shared how unplugging has strengthened their friendships and family time, and families are urged to join in at home.
   

• TRAVEL ADVISORY: Lane Closures on Northbound Wantagh State Parkway in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County (longisland.com) — If you commute between Wantagh and points north, expect northbound Wantagh State Parkway to be reduced to one lane on weekdays between Old Country Road and the Northern State Parkway starting the week of Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for about two weeks. The DOT says the closures will allow drainage improvements and could shift with weather conditions, so check 511NY before driving.
