SEAFORD, NY. — Seaford Middle School's drama club will help audiences find out who lives in a pineapple under the sea next weekend as the 47-student cast brings “Spongebob the Musical: Youth Edition” to stage Friday and Saturday, Mar. 27 and Mar. 28.

Under the direction of Carly Spadafora — who previously served as the choreographer for Seaford productions — and assistant director Amanda Ferguson, the student ensemble is bringing their talents to the Seaford High School auditorium for the first time.

The cast features Samantha Juan as Spongebob Squarepants, Delaney Cassidy as Patrick Star, Abby Roth as Sandy, Brielle Garcia as Squidward, Chris Falta as Plankton, Peyton Hujber as Karen, Sky Schoenberger as Mr. Krabs and Lena Bombardier as Pearl.

While many fans of the show are familiar with the shanty that tells audiences about the absorbent, yellow, porous protagonist, district officials said other musical numbers in the show will include “Bikini Bottom Day,” “Best Day Ever” and “Hero is My Middle Name.”

According to the show's director, however, it's the comedic stylings of the cast that stand out as much as the musical numbers.

“We have a phenomenal singers, actors and dancers in the cast, and their comedic timing is fantastic,” Spadafora said. “They really pulled it all together. I’m very proud of them.”
