‘So Many People In Need’: Seaford Service Club Concludes Coat Drive
The middle school club is under the direction of Katheryn Hickey and Taryn Ohlmiller.

SEAFORD, NY. — While the holiday season has come and gone, Seaford Middle School students were still in the giving spirit Friday, wrapping up a month-long coat drive that had begun on Dec. 15.
The drive was led by the middle school’s Service Club, under the advice of Katheryn Hickey and Taryn Ohlmiller. District representatives said the winter coat drive supports the district’s “Seaford Scholar” initiative, which seeks to define what traits the district hopes to teach its students. In this case, that initiative is furthered by the drive encouraging students to be “networkers,” a trait the district defines as, “collaboratively acting in a global community.”
“There’s so many people in need,” Service Club President Ryan Kind said. “So it’s important for us to give back to the community.”
