State Police Arrest North Carolina Man For Gun, Drugs

Police say they pulled him over for commercial vehicle violations and found the weapon in his truck.

A North Carolina man was arrested Wednesday morning after state police pulled him over and found a gun and drugs in his car.

According to police, state troopers pulled over a 2006 Dodge Ram heading east on the Southern State Parkway near exit 28N in Wantagh. Police say the truck was pulled over for multiple commercial vehicle violations.

After investigation, police say that the driver, Donald R. Stanfield, 37, of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, was in possession of a loaded handgun and marijuana.

Stanfield was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
