Wantagh Board Of Ed Honors Regional Festival Musicians

More than 30 Wantagh student musicians have been named to county and regional festivals this year.

WANTAGH, NY. — The Wantagh Board of Education had an instrumental and vocal accompaniment at its Jan. 22 meeting, as more than 30 students were honored for their participation in the Nassau Music Education Association’s All-County Festival and the Long Island String Festival Association’s secondary and intermediate county festivals.

At the board meeting, band, chorus and orchestra students from grades 5-12 were honored. Those students took part in a week of rehearsals earlier this month that culminated in a performance at the Tilles Center on the LIU Post campus.

The all-county students honored were as follows: Allison Amador, Reya Basnet, Sarah Bernstein, Cayden Calabro, Hollie Casale, Aubrey Cook, Morgan Crespo, Adrian Rafael DeChavez, Rosalie Della Croce, Angelina DiTroia, Charlotte Duffy, Stella Eiermann, Isla Flaherty, Angelina Frisch, Milana Gimber, Diana Goncalves, Ireland Hill-Hotz, Leah John, Olivia Juliano, Joseph Leone, Nicholas Lerro, Samantha McHugh, Sophia McManamon, Jack Miller, Luca Montalbano, Brendan O’Callaghan, Giada Petrillo, Caitlyn Pinto, Daniel Rodrigues, Ellie Sedler, Amalia Smith, Giana Squier and Katelyn Sutton.

Additionally, seven students were selected to the LISFA festival, which will run its performances in February. Those students were Hollie Casale, Adrian Rafael DeChavez, Clarice Kubis, Jack Miller, Olivia Pinto, Amalia Smith and Mia Spiteri.

Director of fine and performing arts and business education Kelly Jones presented the students with certificates celebrating their accomplishments. Superintendent John McNamara said the honors were “a direct result of the dedication and commitment of both the music students and their teachers,” district officials said.
