Wantagh Teacher Stars in Thanksgiving Day Parade
Did you catch this special education teacher dressed as Mother Goose in the Thanksgiving Day Parade?

This Thanksgiving, Forest Lake Elementary School special education teacher Christine Torrellas donned a Mother Goose costume and marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The annual trek through the streets of Manhattan has been a family tradition for the past 14 years.
Torrellas’ sister previously worked for Macy’s and was responsible for managing the annual televised event. Torrellas used her family ties to start marching and has dressed as a banana, a piece of cake and a clown. For the past six years, Torrellas has taken on the persona of Mother Goose, a character that is very close to her heart.

“I am very drawn to that very important part of American folklore,” Torrellas said. “It’s a shame that many children today do not know who Mother Goose is, and so I question children on the parade route about whether they have read any of my stories.”
