17-Year-Old Dies After Jumping From George Washington Bridge

The teenager's body was recovered from the Hudson River by NYPD divers, but he died after being rushed to the hospital.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 17-year-old died Wednesday morning after jumping from the George Washington Bridge, police told Patch.

The teenager jumped from the bridge's bike path around 7:25 a.m., police said. He was recovered from the Hudson River by NYPD divers around 8 a.m. and rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia, police said.

The boy was in critical condition when rushed to the hospital, and was later pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m., police told Patch.

At this time it is not clear why the 17-year-old jumped from the bridge, and the incident is still under investigation, police told Patch.
