2 Men Wanted For Check Fraud Scheme: Police

The men are accused of stealing more than $50,000 using phony checks.

INWOOD, NY — Investigators from the NYPD's 34th precinct — which patrols parts of Washington Heights above West 179th Street and all of Inwood — are asking the public's help to find two men wanted in a check fraud scheme.

Ramon Santos, 21, and Adebayo Oyelaya-Jones, 25, are accused of stealing more than $50,000 from victims across New York City, police told Patch. The two men would use bank customers' information to write phony checks and deposit them in their own accounts, police said.

The victims belonged to a number of different banks including Citibank, Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, police told Patch.

Santos (pictured above) stands 6-foot-2, weighs around 220 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair, police said. He wears glasses and has been seen with a beard, police said.

Oyelaya-Jones (also pictured) stands 6-foot-1 and weighs around 190 pounds, police told Patch. Oyelaya-Jones has black hair and tattoos on his chest and shoulders, police said.
