Bike Thieves Break Into Washington Heights Apartment Building, Police Say
Two men forced open the front door of a Bennett Avenue apartment building.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify two men accused of breaking into a Washington Heights apartment building and looting its basement, police told Patch.
Two men forced open the front door of an apartment complex on Bennett Avenue near West 190th Street during the early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 19, police said. After breaking into the building, the men made their way to the basement and stole valuables that were stored there between the hours of 3 and 5 a.m., police said.
The men made off with seven bicycles, two pairs of ice skates and assorted tools, police told Patch.

Police released photos of the suspects this week. The first suspect is described as a man with tattoos on his forearm who was last seen wearing a black shirt, black sweatpants and red sneakers. The second suspect is a man with a mustache who was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweater, dark colored pants and white sneakers, police said.
