Elderly Washington Heights Man Killed While Crossing Street: Police

The 71-year-old man was crossing the intersection of West 158th Street and Broadway when he was struck by a taxi.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — An elderly man from Washington Heights died hours after being struck by a taxi while crossing the street, police told Patch.

Francisco Hildalgo, 71, was crossing the intersection of West 158th Street and Broadway Saturday morning when he was struck by a yellow taxi traveling east on West 158th Street, police said. Responders arrived at the scene of the collision around 10:00 a.m. and found Hildalgo suffering from injuries to his head, back and legs, police said.

Hildalgo was transported to Harlem Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries hours later, police said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating the collision, but no arrests have been made.
