  1. The city is under a hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather
    Service
    starting today, when forecasters predict a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Widespread heavy rainfall is expected to drench those areas, before
    heading to the Mid-Atlantic states, according to the National Weather Service. (Patch)
  2. Governor Kathy Hochul Tuesday announced 120 new pop-up vaccination sites that will take place across New York over a 12-week-period as part of the #VaxtoSchool campaign to increase vaccination rates among younger New Yorker's. In partnership with the State, each region will be hosting two new events per week, and partners, host sites, and outreach efforts will be tailored to best meet the needs of the communities they are built to serve.   3. Google plans to buy a New York City office building for $2.1 billion, even as most of its workforce remains remote, the company announced Tuesday. The purchase is the most expensive for any single U.S. office building since the pandemic's inception. (CNBC)
  4. The Open Street on Dyckman Street between Payson and Seaman will transform into a free outdoor theater venue on Friday. The festival will use the city's Open Streets and Open Culture
    locations, which were set up for public programming during the coronavirus crisis. The entertainment will last from 3 to 5 p.m. (Patch)
  5. A New York University student was recovering Wednesday morning after
    being struck by a stray bullet near the school's Brooklyn campus Tuesday afternoon, according to police and the school. The NYPD said gunfire erupted just after 3 p.m. and the 19-year-old man was struck while standing in front of 6 MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn, home to NYU's School of Engineering.
