Inwood Spot Is One Of NYC's Best Wine Bars, Ranking Says
Tannat wine and cheese bar on Broadway was one of just 25 chosen throughout New York City in a new ranking by Thrillist.
INWOOD, NY — A local wine and cheese bar is one of the best places to grab a glass of vino in New York City, according to a new ranking.
Tannat Wine & Cheese's at 4736 Broadway made it onto a list of the Big Apple's top 25 wine bars in a new ranking by Thrillest called "The Wine Drinker’s Guide to New York’s Top 25 Wine Bars in Every Borough."
The intimate bar, opened after owners started a Kickstarter in 2017, was praised as one of the best spots in the ranking's natural wine section.

Thrillest's foodies praised the bar for its reasonable prices and wide selection away from the hustle and bustle of busier New York City neighborhoods.
"Teeny Tannat is a snug canteen for natural wine, without having to trek downtown for more trafficked spots," the ranking said. "Prices here are fair, and you can easily taste your way round the world thanks to pours priced by splash, by glass, or by bottle."

Tannat, which gets its name from a French grape, offers affordable four-course, three-course and entree dinners, the ranking noted.
The wine list plays on the eatery's name with a long list of wines from lesser known grapes, such as Skrlet, Grolleau, and Loureiro, from countries as diverse as Greece, Uruguay, and Georgia, according to Tannat's website.
The bar was founded by its chef William Emery and runs on a profit-sharing program with its employees, ethical sourcing of its food and wine, efforts to reduce food waste and energy and a support of local arts, its website says.
Tannat was the only Inwood and Washington Heights spot to make Thrillest's wine bar list, though several others in Manhattan landed a spot, including Aldo Sohm Wine Bar in Midtown, Corkbuzz in Union Square and several East Village or Lower East Side spots.
The ranking was broken into categories including natural wine, "made in New York," the classics, and "adventurous and noteworthy regions."
